Paragliding The Zillertal is defiantly not a place to overlook whilst looking for paragliding spots. Pilots of every level can enjoy he qualities of the area all year long. When the first snows start to melt early in the spring the earth starts to warm. This warm air creates low thermals that let you soar for long periods in search of lift.
From March through June the Zillertal could be considered to be one of the best spots for cross-country flight. In paragliding terms this is the action of using thermals and upward winds to prolong a flight longer than the glide angle of the canopy permits. The area is famous for its triangle flight potential and most flights are flown in a closed circuit, which makes it easier to get home.
Flying in July and August is a true oasis for the paraglider. If you’re looking for reliable wind and weather conditions this is the time to go especially if you’ve just started to learn the basics. Later in the afternoon the upward winds pick up and let you scale the higher peaks in the area. Hights of up to 4000m are not unheard of.
The Gasthof Zillertal can arrange lessons courses and tandem flights for you with the best outdoor-sports companies in Mayrhofen.
